Description
This recipe is my jet lag recovery cure. Long-haul flights really take it out of me, and I seem to be on them quick often these days. Green tea is a powerful anti-oxidant and it is rehydrating (not as much as water though. Rose buds when consumed in tea have a positive effect on the body, soothing and calming the mind, and also purifying the skin, adding Vitamin C to your daily diet, they even also block some damage caused by toxins and free radicals. Aloe vera is rehydrating and also good for rehydrating dry skin, and passion fruit a good source of Vitamin C. So overall, I have found that the combination of these four ingredients is a good jet lag recovery, especially if you need a gentle day on the day you return from a long-haul flight. This tea has the following effects on the body:
- It’s a relaxant (loosening the tense muscles) and a gentle stimulant (making you feel less dozy without a sharp caffeine injection), thanks to the green tea.
- It’s a Vitamin C boost, thanks to the passion fruit flesh and rose buds.
- It’s rehydrating, thanks to the passion fruit and fresh aloe vera.
- It’s soothing, thanks to the subtle rose flavour.
Ingredients
Green tea, loose leaves, 1 tbsp
Fresh aloe vera, diced into cubes, 2 tbsp
Dried rose buds, 4-5
Passion fruit, 1
Preparation
Prepare the green tea first. Deseed the passion fruit, and place all other ingredients at the bottom of a large bowl. Pour the green tea (not the leaves) over all other ingredients and cover with a plate for a few minutes. Ladle into small teacups and enjoy.
Alternative Options
Add a tiny drop of a high quality rose essential oil and/or organic rose syrup instead of rose buds for more intense flavour.
